The Western Australian Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary after its Annual General Meeting tomorrow night at the Lions Eye Institute of Western Australia. Meanwhile, the Lions Club of the HMAS Westralia are passing through Augusta tomorrow as part of their charity bicycle ride, which will benefit a number of charities including the Lions Save Sight Foundation. The Lions Club of Leeuwin are hosting a barbecue to welcome the cyclists to Augusta tomorrow night.

Tripped Out
Wow, the big RP trip East was fantastic! Highlights included a barbecue by the Darling River in Wilcannia, taking cable ferries across Berowra Waters and the Hawkesbury River in Sydney, and polenta on the barbecue (topped with a slice of Parmesan cheese) at a bonfire in Galston. Everyone was in good spirits and happy to be together.

Have Cane, Will Travel
Almost ready for the Sydney trip. I'll be catching the 6.20am bus from Augusta to Perth tomorrow with my youngest sister and will stay with my best friend over the weekend. Chatted to the people I'll be meeting in Adelaide and Sydney tonight - we're all looking forward to catching up in person! My cane is packed and if it's lucky it might even see a little mobility action while I'm away...

The RP Journey aka the Great Australian RP Trip
Wow. Just one more day before I'm off. A few people from the Australian RP chat group are meeting up in Sydney and it's going to be big. I'm leaving for Perth on Friday by bus, and will catch up with friends over the weekend before flying to Adelaide early next week. I'll meet chat friends in Adelaide before we head off in a converted bus to travel overland to Sydney. On the way we'll see Broken Hill and a lot of the outback, we'll meet people in Dubbo and check out the Western Plains Zoo, and finally I'll visit the Blue Mountains when it's not raining (I hope!). In Sydney we'll meet friends from Yenda in New South Wales and catch up with a few Sydneysiders too. Hopefully I'll keep the blog updated so you can follow our travels.

RP/DB Station at Audio-tips
I'm a regular visitor to the Australian IRC channel for people with RD, called #ozrplist. I am yet to visit the voice-based chat services offered by Audio-tips, however many people with RD are now finding the RP/DB Station hosted there to be a fun place to meet.
