Smoking May Increase Risk of Developing Age-Related MD
Smoking increases the risk of age-related macular degeneration according to researchers from the University of Manchester in the UK ('Smoking could ruin your eyesight' (BBC, March 5, 2004). The research was published in the March issue of the British Medical Journal and indicates that smokers may be up to four times as likely to go blind than non-smokers.
